Responsibilities
Learn to perform specialized crime laboratory work such as evidence detection, criminalistics, firearms, latent print examination or crime laboratory and crime scene photography
Work on a shift basis at crime locations, encountering various conditions such as seasonal extremes of weather and potentially dangerous situations
Lift and move large and heavy materials and objects from crime sites; may be exposed to toxic fumes and chemicals when working in the analytical units of the Laboratory Division
Qualification
Required
Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate
Have an equivalent combination of education and experience
Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management
Knowledge of the basic principles and techniques of chemistry, biology and physics
Knowledge of the methods aims and techniques of laboratory analysis
Ability to perform basic laboratory tests
Ability to write basic laboratory reports
Ability to maintain records and files
Ability to deal effectively with others in chaotic situations
