The WV Departments of Health, Health Facilities, and Human Services is seeking a Trades Specialist for Babcock State Park. The role involves performing skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance, and construction of various structures, as well as maintaining and repairing lawn and construction equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance, or construction of CCC era Cabins, Historical Gristmill, and related structures
Perform full-performance experienced work maintaining and repairing a variety of lawn and construction equipment
May be exposed to hazardous working conditions
Employee's assignments, supervision, and review are received from the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and the Building and Grounds Manager at Babcock SP
Employee may lead part time maintenance staff on a project-by-project basis
Perform carpentry work such as building, repairing and installing counters, cabinets, benches, tables, chairs, partitions, floors, steps, doors, building framework and trim using hand tools and power tools
Construct and repair structural woodwork and equipment in historical buildings, working from prints, drawings or oral instructions
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems; troubleshoots electrical controls
Perform repairs to equipment such as replacing motors, belts, seals, bearings and blades
Repair dry wall and masonry structures
Repair and replace sinks, toilets, faucets, pipes, drains and water lines
Paint, finish and decorate surfaces of buildings, equipment, machinery and furnishings, both interior and exterior
Prepare area; erect scaffolding; clean surfaces; help maintain septic and sewage treatment facilities for Babcock's buildings and cabins
Repair and maintain tools and equipment used
Perform grounds work such as mowing and trimming, removing snow, sweeping sidewalks and picking up trash
Work throughout all park facilities and may be required to lift and move heavy objects
Work on ladders and at rooftop heights
Wear provided uniform
Possess a valid driver's license
Regular attendance is a requirement of this position
Perform related work as required

Required

Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent
Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience or paid self-employment in heating, cooling, ventilation, building maintenance, or building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plasterer, welder, machinist, or masonry
Must possess a valid driver's license
Regular attendance is a requirement of this position

Preferred

Certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling
