Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and oversees short and long-term philanthropy plans to meet established goals
This includes securing major gifts, Annual Fund support, corporate and foundation grants, endowment gifts, stewardship and prospecting strategies, enhanced fundraising events, and new approaches to traditional advancement initiatives
Provides leadership and supervision for the Philanthropy Associate by setting annual goals aligned with the philanthropy plan, delivering ongoing feedback, recognizing contributions, and supporting professional development
Collaborates with the Chief Growth Officer to position development opportunities and integrate messaging into publications, grant submissions, reports, and donor stewardship materials
Engages board members, donors, and community partners through thoughtful acknowledgement and relationship building efforts
Cultivates and sustains relationship with board members, donors, and community partners to advance long-term philanthropic engagement
Promotes a culture of philanthropy and builds an understanding of how philanthropy supports Navian Hawai’i’s mission to meet community needs through education, acceptance, and guidance for patients and families
Oversees philanthropy systems and infrastructure including gift processing, donor acknowledgment, the donor database (Bloomerang), financial reporting and related information systems
Leads prospect research and cultivation strategies with a focus on securing or increasing donor giving
Establishes processes for philanthropy staff and Board of Directors to regularly review solicitation strategies and contact reports
Develops strategies to move existing donors through a meaningful cycle of giving
Meets regularly with the Chief Growth Officer on program goals and initiatives and provides routine reports to the Board of Directors and relevant committees
Attends Navian Hawai’i events and fosters pride, joy, and a spirit of philanthropy among supporters
Submits monthly Team Management Action Planning reports to the Chief of Growth Officer
Inspires a sense of community and philanthropy among staff and constituents through donor recognition events and special celebrations
Demonstrates servant leadership, embodies Navian Hawai’i’s mission and communicates in a collaborative, decisive, motivating, and engaging manner
Upholds the highest ethical standards and adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Standards
Proven track record of fundraising success, including securing major gifts, managing campaigns, and engaging a committed community of supporters
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field required
5+ years of increasing responsibility in nonprofit fundraising required
Experience successfully managing philanthropy or fundraising staff
A legally compliant background check
Drug screen
Valid Hawai'i Driver's License
Reliable transportation with valid registration and insurance
Working knowledge of development best practices, trends in philanthropy, fundraising tools, and technology including donor databases, email and online campaigns, and donor research
Commitment to continuous learning
Ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment
Strong tact, discretion, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence
Deep appreciation and understanding of Navian Hawai'i's mission and the ability to articulate its values and vision internally and externally
Proven track record of fundraising success, including securing major gifts, managing campaigns, and engaging a committed community of supporters
