Vice President Human Resources
The Newport Group is an executive recruiting firm seeking a Vice President of Human Resources for a growing midsized organization relocating to Scottsdale. This role will lead and scale the human capital strategy across hospitality operations, property management, and real estate development, overseeing core HR functions and aligning initiatives with business objectives during a period of expansion.
Responsibilities
Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to execute a human capital strategy that supports growth, operational efficiency, and service excellence
Provide leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership development, and succession planning
Drive initiatives that reinforce a high-performance, service-oriented, and entrepreneurial culture
Lead recruiting strategies across operational, corporate, and development teams to ensure timely access to high-quality talent
Oversee workforce planning for new properties, expansions, and development initiatives
Implement scalable hiring and onboarding processes for hourly hospitality staff and professional roles
Develop and implement engagement, communication, and retention strategies that improve employee satisfaction and reduce turnover
Foster a consistent culture centered on service excellence, safety, accountability, and employee well-being
Oversee employee relations matters to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant practices
Design and oversee leadership development programs for property-level leaders and corporate management
Implement training frameworks that support compliance, service quality, and professional growth
Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across all business units
Lead the development and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs
Oversee HR operations, including payroll coordination, HRIS platforms, and workforce analytics
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws across multiple jurisdictions
Manage union relationships and support collective bargaining activities where applicable
Oversee workplace safety programs, risk mitigation efforts, and policy development
Ensure HR policies and procedures align with legal requirements and industry best practices
Champion the implementation and optimization of HR technology solutions
Leverage workforce analytics to track turnover, engagement, performance, and productivity
Use data-driven insights to inform leadership decisions and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
12–15+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior leadership roles at the director or VP level
Strong knowledge of labor law, workforce planning, compensation strategy, and HR systems
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to influence leaders and drive change across diverse teams
Preferred
Master's degree or MBA
Experience supporting multi-site hospitality, real estate, or operationally intensive organizations strongly preferred
Demonstrated success scaling HR programs in high-growth environments
