Responsibilities
Prepare, implement, and manage Construction Noise Control Plans (CNCP) for an active, urban construction site
Perform noise and vibration modeling, analysis, and predictive assessments for construction activities
Identify, design, and recommend mitigation measures, including barriers, enclosures, equipment modifications, and vibration isolation systems
Oversee installation and effectiveness of noise and vibration control solutions during construction
Conduct on-site noise and vibration monitoring, including baseline studies and ongoing compliance checks
Document readings, analyze data, and prepare reports to ensure compliance with NYC, state, and federal regulations
Respond to potential exceedances, community concerns, or agency requests with corrective action recommendations
Coordinate with regulatory bodies when required
Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and submittals related to acoustical engineering
Review project plans, specifications, and construction schedules to identify noise/vibration risks
Evaluate contractor submittals related to acoustical materials, noise mitigation equipment, or monitoring systems
Work closely with construction managers, engineers, subcontractors, and city representatives
Provide technical guidance during planning, design, and execution phases
Attend site meetings and present findings, recommendations, and status updates to project leadership
Ensure that all acoustical engineering work adheres to applicable standards (e.g., NYC DEP, FHWA, ANSI) and project‑specific performance criteria
Validate field measurements against design expectations and regulatory thresholds
Qualification
Required
Professional Engineer (PE) license in a relevant engineering discipline
Bachelor's degree in Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field
Demonstrated experience (typically 5-10+ years) in: Noise control engineering, Urban construction noise/vibration analysis, Preparation and implementation of construction noise control plans
Membership or eligibility for membership as: Full Member or Board‑Certified Member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE)
Hands-on experience with acoustical monitoring tools, measurement equipment, and modeling software (such as CadnaA, SoundPLAN, or equivalent)
