Responsibilities
Provides comprehensive leadership and operational oversight for graduate programs within the School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR)
Directing and advising graduate program activities, both internally (graduate council) and with external agencies and organizations (NSF, DOE, NIH, etc.)
Supervising admissions processes and systems (Slate and PeopleSoft)
Ensuring compliance with university and state policies (by interpreting and implementing institutional policies and procedures)
Oversees, as Slate Captain and with minimal direction, the entire graduate admission ecosystem for CWU
Works in collaboration with the Dean in curriculum development, policy implementation, and workflow optimization
Having delegated authority to monitor student progress
Exercises independent judgement in the management of services
Playing a critical role in strategically planning and achieving the goals of the Graduate School
Supporting the Dean with delegated decision-making authority
Providing critical support systems to graduate faculty and students at CWU
Redesigning admission processes within Slate
Compiling key reports
Analyzing enrollment data
Advising and onboarding leadership, students and faculty
Implementing professional development for staff
Directs staff supervision for graduate admissions
Recruitment and performance management
Fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or commensurable experience
Experience managing and overseeing the operational activities of a fast-paced department
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to use technology to ensure project success
Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to work effectively with both internal and external clients and customers to identify their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems and/or satisfy their expectations by providing quality services
Experience in higher education
Experience supervising
Demonstrated ability and/or experience fostering a supportive and effective workplace while working with students and/or colleagues to uphold institutional excellence
OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
Preferred
Master's degree or commensurable experience
Experience using Slate, MyCWU, PeopleSoft, and FMS systems and/or similar systems
Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote student success
Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through various activities
