Start in 2026 SummerDEKA Research & Development is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Intern to develop software for an embedded Linux networking device. The role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues and improving automated testing while working alongside a team of engineers.

Responsibilities
Use software engineering knowledge to solve issues found in embedded and test software
Improve automated testing through investigation and code debugging
Perform verification and validation activities using automated software testing and test fixtures
Support development of software
Learn software processes
Qualification
Required
Must be currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent degree program
Must have an understanding of, and experience with embedded software and basic computer networking
Must have C++ programming experience
Must be familiar with Linux
Have successfully completed at least one year of programming course(s)
Must be a self-starter eager to contribute in a team environment
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be detail oriented
Preferred
Experience with OpenVPN, Yocto, Python, Bash, Git, and advanced computer networking is a plus
Involvement with First Robotics is a plus
Interest in personal embedded projects is a plus
