Internal - Manufacturing Technician III (Lead) - Cutting

Responsibilities
Responsible for coordinating production within the department
Responsible for monitoring, controlling, implementing, and reporting of all activities in the department
This position reports directly to the supervisor and/or department manager and is designated to a specified shift
Lead by example and mentor the production employees to become a self-directed work force
Establish decisions daily to better utilize people and equipment to make rate and organize absence coverage
Promote and monitor safety throughout your area and in the plant
Participate in effective problem solving (CBS, 5 why, 4D)
Mentor and train (or help arrange training) as necessary, to ensure the team is capable and effective in their daily tasks
Complete and communicate daily shift end report and schedule
Escalate issues to supervisor/management that cannot be resolved by the team
Monitor production to ensure schedule is completed on time
Create work orders in SAP and communicate with maintenance when needed
Communicate all matters of attendance and vacation requests directly to the supervisor
Liaison between hourly employees and supervisor
Participate in the VAR employee dialogue process with supervisor as well as W.I.P. and inventory activities
Enforce and respect departmental technical compliance to all mandatory policies including safety, environmental, ISO, quality, plant policy, corporate policy, etc
Must have problem solving and multi-tasking abilities and have flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet departmental needs
Utilize broad technical background to include knowledge of the equipment and process within production area
Must be able and willing to monitor production equipment and people within an assigned area to allow early intervention when issues arise
Must be able and willing to coach team with respect to potential training needs on an ongoing basis and to promote team concepts and cohesion within the team
Must maintain all certifications
May be required to obtain additional certifications
Be self-managed, detail-oriented, and capable of performing under pressure
Follow all plant, ESH, CBS, quality, and department processes and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED
2 or more years of experience in Cold Prep
Must have current certification on at least one cold prep machine
Must be willing/able to obtain/maintain certifications including any additional certifications as required for role
This role is an internal only position, external applicants will not be considered for this role

Preferred
Three or more years' experience at Continental Sumter Cold Prep Department
Excel, SAP, EWM, and CGMS experience
