Responsibilities

Performing project scoping and site visits
Review of Transmission Line encroachments
Preparing operational one-line drawings
Management of the network model and deployment of facility rating changes
Creation of a more detailed model used to improve the State Estimator
Validate estimating prices and equipment units, ensuring material is properly ordered and staged for upcoming projects
Managing projects that are in construction
Completion of as-built documentation
Participate in weekly planning coordination calls
Work on special projects to assist in improving grid reliability
Responding to equipment failures
NERC Clearance Remediation
Transmission Line database management
Support of Business Analyst processes within Project Controls through data mining and reporting, as well as performing a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in transmission-related areas such as planning, economic analysis, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations
Travel is required for the position
Uses engineering principles to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions
Applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating the transmission grid
Works with other disciplines within the Transmission organization and other business units
Utilize various power system software packages (Steady State, Stability and/or Electric Market Analysis) to evaluate the performance of the transmission grid
Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary

Required

Currently enrolled in school full-time, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, and enrolled in sophomore year or beyond
Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Ability to assist engineers in day-to-day activities including performing project scoping and site visits, review of Transmission Line encroachments, preparing operational one-line drawings, management of the network model and deployment of facility rating changes, creation of a more detailed model used to improve the State Estimator, validate estimating prices and equipment units, ensuring material is properly ordered and staged for upcoming projects, managing projects that are in construction, completion of as-built documentation, participating in weekly planning coordination calls, working on special projects to assist in improving grid reliability, responding to equipment failures, NERC Clearance Remediation, Transmission Line database management, supporting Business Analyst processes within Project Controls through data mining and reporting, and performing a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in transmission-related areas such as planning, economic analysis, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations
