Responsibilities
Lead field crew in the installation and retrieval of bioacoustics sensors
Lead field crew in annual avian point count surveys to document long-term bird demography
Lead field crew in data entry and quality control for avian datasets. Manually enter data from datasheets into Excel files using a specific format, and check data entry for errors
Lead field crew in the data collection of long-term forest microclimate data
Conduct logistical tasks (crew meetings, informing supervisors of updates, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science) and one year of experience related to the area of assignment at the Biological Research Technician 1 level; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming workplace environment for individuals with a range of different backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and/or life experiences
Organizational skills and clear communication skills
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030
Preferred
Previous experience working as a crew lead in avian field research
Familiarity with point count protocols
Ability to identify songbirds by sight and sound
