Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise in health hazards assessments and in Radiation Safety as a Health Physicist with respect to DOD commodities to support the AMCOM Safety Office
Perform health hazard evaluations and track AMCOM managed commodities containing radioactive sources requiring 100% inventory accountability to ensure accurate health hazard assessments are performed
Support radiation measurements and sampling at AMCOM facilities by providing technical expertise in radiation and radiation safety by recording acquired data for analysis and interpretation for health hazard evaluations of systems for facility certification
Provide technical expertise in safety and health hazards to support the AMCOM Safety Office Radiation Safety Training efforts. These efforts train Radiation Safety Officers and Civilians involved with AMCOM licensed commodities
Provide technical expertise in the area of human factors engineering associated with radiation and radiation safety, review training and training material, and provide recommended changes to documentation techniques and procedures related to health hazards associated with radiation, to include providing assessments and evaluations
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in Radiation Safety & DOD commodities
Must have a SECRET level clearance
Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and written
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers
Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <10%
Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk
Ability to lift >15 lbs
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement
Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
