Lead Marketing Automation Architect
Exact Sciences is seeking a strategic and technically advanced Lead Marketing Automation Manager to join their Customer Engagement & Web Experience team. This role is responsible for owning the architecture and optimization of cross-channel automation programs that drive impactful customer experiences at scale.

Responsibilities
Architect and oversee the execution of cross-channel marketing automation programs leveraging Braze APIs, Currents, Webhooks, and data feeds from platforms such as Databricks
Design and manage enterprise-grade audience segmentation strategies using SQL-based queries in Databricks, with automated syncing to Braze via APIs for real-time personalization
Lead the development of complex, multi-channel customer journeys across the full lifecycle, ensuring orchestration is powered by clean, governed data pipelines
Strategize and implement advanced automation logic that spans platforms and triggers based on behavioral, transactional, and system-level data events
Lead the creation and optimization of rigorous experimentation frameworks (A/B, multivariate, holdout groups), integrating test outcomes into continuous lifecycle improvements
Act as a strategic partner to senior marketing, product, and business leaders by aligning automation strategy with organizational goals and customer experience objectives
Establish and enforce technical documentation standards, automation architecture runbooks, and version control protocols to support scalability and cross-team alignment
Own governance of marketing automation systems, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., CAN-SPAM, HIPAA, GDPR) and robust data integrity across tools and processes
Spearhead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and platform innovations (e.g., predictive analytics, machine learning-driven targeting, and real-time triggers)
Analyze cross-channel performance by blending Braze and Databricks data sources to deliver executive-level insights and recommendations for strategic marketing outcomes
Lead integration efforts between Braze and enterprise platforms such as CRM, analytics environments, and data lakes to ensure a unified customer engagement infrastructure
Mentor and coach marketing automation team members, sharing expertise in system design, campaign architecture, and data-driven strategy
Serve as a thought leader and internal consultant, advancing the marketing automation discipline across the organization through training, enablement, and documentation
Collaborate within an agile, cross-functional value stream squad to deliver impactful customer journeys in partnership with product and marketing leads
Collaborate with IT and other technical teams to ensure seamless integration of MarTech platforms with other systems, such as CRM, analytics, digital properties, etc
Apply innate curiosity to learn new skills, technologies, methods to deploy best-in-class campaigns & journeys

Maintain regular and reliable attendance

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, computer science, or a related field as outlined by essential duties; OR associate's degree and 2 additional years of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and 4 additional years of relevant experience
6+ years of experience in marketing technology with a proven track record of designing and managing complex, cross-channel customer engagement campaigns
Expert-level proficiency with marketing automation platforms such as Braze, Adobe Campaign, Iterable, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including API-based integrations and data sync workflows
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing journey orchestration strategies using tools like Braze Canvas, Databricks, or similar technologies
Advanced understanding of lifecycle marketing, lead generation, and behavioral segmentation strategies
Strong command of digital marketing channels, customer experience design, and omnichannel messaging
Deep expertise in consumer behavior, decision science, and data-driven marketing methodologies
Proven ability to collaborate across departments, including IT, Data Engineering, CRM, and senior business leadership
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional projects, platform strategy, and MarTech infrastructure development
Strong experience with A/B and multivariate testing, including statistical analysis and integration with reporting platforms (e.g., Databricks, Tableau)
Advanced understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks applicable to marketing (e.g., CAN-SPAM, HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR, TCPA) and experience enforcing governance across systems
Skilled in SQL and audience building through complex queries and relational datasets
Strong attention to detail, with a track record of QAing and validating campaigns in high-volume environments
Proficient in HTML, CSS, and Liquid for email personalization, including reusable components and dynamic logic
High proficiency in enterprise collaboration and documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Jira, Confluence, Miro)
Ability to interpret strategic business needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex systems and workflows to non-technical audiences
Possession of or ability to obtain Braze Certification within 6 months of hire and maintain throughout employment in position
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred
Certification in Braze Customer Engagement Platforms; advanced certifications or platform admin experience preferred
Experience architecting and maintaining complex automation infrastructures integrating Braze (or similar) with platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Segment, or CRMs (e.g., Salesforce)
Proficient in SQL and experienced in developing reusable, scalable audience logic and dynamic content pipelines across multiple datasets and platforms
Demonstrated success leading full-cycle development and optimization of marketing automation programs across web, email, SMS, push, and paid media
Background in data governance, compliance, and privacy standards with a focus on marketing systems in regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, insurance)
Familiarity with agile methodologies, marketing operations frameworks, and campaign management workflows (e.g., Jira, Asana, Confluence)
Strong presentation skills with experience influencing senior stakeholders and presenting automation strategies or program outcomes at the executive level
