Responsibilities

Design transportation projects and manage the complete design process from scoping through advertisement
Prepare construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for highway improvement projects
Provide technical oversight to ensure work complies with departmental policies, procedures, and design standards
Serve as the CDOT engineer of record, stamping plans in accordance with licensing regulations
Act as the project manager during the design phase for infrastructure projects, planning efforts, and environmental studies
Provide ongoing design support during construction
Coordinate with specialty units and external partners
Perform conceptual design as needed
Conduct occasional site visits and inspections to resolve field-related design issues
Assist in mentoring less experienced engineers and team members
Assist the Resident Engineer with special tasks such as developing workflows and improving design consistency

Required

Current, valid licensure as a Professional Engineer from the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Professional Land Surveyors
or Current, valid licensure as a Professional Engineer from another state
Applicants who do not have a current, valid licensure as a Professional Engineer from the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers, and Professional Land Surveyors will be required to obtain this within six months of hire
Must pass a pre-employment screening which may include social security number trace, criminal records check, public court records check, educational records, and driving records checks
A current valid driver's license is required for all Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) positions which require operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position
