Responsibilities

This internship will play an important role in helping inform and document the process of evolving our existing bill assistance programs in a way that systematically addresses unmet customer needs, energy burden, barriers to program access, and any inequitable service provision findings identified via the evaluation
The intern will co-create, with the intern supervisor and Customer Operations team, a business process improvement strategy that touches all aspects of bill assistance program delivery. The primary internship work product will be a series of program operations resources intended to fill existing gaps in documentation and capturing opportunities for quick-win process improvements
The intern will also assist in mapping expected changes to program design and operations, identifying change management, training/retraining and impacts to associated workstreams and systems. The intern’s research in best practices among peer programs and utilities will inform process improvement recommendations developed by the intern as well

Required

Enrolled in an accredited graduate program during their internship
Graduate students will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above throughout the internship

Preferred

Enrolled in an academic program with focus on Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Work or Business Administration
Education and/or experience with business process improvement, organizational theory, organizational change management, and program evaluation, especially with an emphasis on not-for-profit social or environmental services, is highly desired for this position
Knowledge of energy equity concepts, including energy burden and highly impacted communities
A passion for systematically addressing and remedying institutional injustice
Experience with MS office suite of products, especially Teams and SharePoint
