Responsibilities

Participates in multidisciplinary project teams through all phases of product development to ensure successful execution of innovative and best-in-class designs. This includes interpretation and flow-down of system requirements to sub-systems and components, concept design, technical risk analysis, and design review
Design of primary magnetic field producing coils and analysis of field uniformity using spherical harmonics
Designs and analyzes passive magnetic field shim systems and quench protection systems
Conducts detailed design, analysis, and testing of magnet components including eddy current analysis and calculation of magnetic forces
Manages engineering design changes including revising and reviewing drawings and bills of material

Required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
strong analytical and problem-solving skills
use of electromagnetic finite element analysis
finite difference analysis or other electromagnetic analysis tools
Bachelor's of Science degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation

Preferred

superconducting magnet design and operation
superconducting magnet component design
demonstrated use of magnetic materials to shape magnetic fields
quench propagation analysis
quench protection system design
combined electromagnetic and mechanical force/stress analysis
use of software tools – Mathcad, ANSYS, Opera-3d, Inventor, Spaceclaim, LabView, Matlab
ability or willingness to learn to write your own software (C++, C#)
preferably (also) in a modern scripting language (Python)
