Associate Development Officer, Regional Giving - Scripps College

Scripps College is a nationally recognized women’s liberal arts college and a member of the Claremont Colleges. They are seeking two Associate Development Officers, Regional Giving professionals to secure philanthropic support through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute individualized strategies to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 75–100 major gift prospects aligned with Scripps College’s strategic plan
Conduct a minimum of 120 donor visits annually, resulting in 24 or more major gift solicitations per year
Prepare and present compelling written and verbal proposals in support of institutional priorities
Maintain accurate and timely contact reports, prospect plans, and donor records within the College’s CRM system
Collaborate with development leadership to build and sustain a strong pipeline of major and planned gift donors
Strengthen alumnae and parent engagement through one-on-one meetings, regional events, and volunteer opportunities
Partner with colleagues in donor relations, annual giving, and alumnae engagement to deliver a coordinated and meaningful donor experience
Develop and implement tailored stewardship strategies that demonstrate the impact of philanthropy and the College’s ability to steward gifts with integrity
Proactively plan and execute monthly travel within the assigned region (approximately 5–15 days per month)
Represent Scripps College at regional events, in-home visits, and other donor-facing opportunities
Serve as a liaison between donors and campus partners, including faculty and senior administrators
Participate in cross-departmental fundraising strategy and planning efforts
Contribute to a strong, campus-wide culture of philanthropy
Develop goals and metrics to measure outcomes of fundraising strategies for internal and external reporting
Analyze engagement and fundraising trends among alumnae, parents, and friends
Demonstrate understanding of the College’s database systems and data strategy
Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned
Actively support the College’s Principles of Community and Institutional Values in the performance of job duties

Required

Ability to represent Scripps College and the advancement team with professionalism, passion, and integrity
Strong commitment to women's education and liberal arts values
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail; ability to craft compelling donor messaging
Strong organizational, project management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining adaptable and solution-oriented
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across diverse constituencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor CRM systems
Bachelor's degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, higher education development, or a related field, including annual giving
Ability and willingness to travel regularly, including nights and weekends as needed

Preferred

Experience with Raiser's Edge, GiveCampus, or similar platforms preferred
Knowledge of industry best practices in higher education or nonprofit fundraising preferred
Experience securing major gifts and building long-term donor relationships preferred
