Apprentice Lineman

The Craft – Apprentice Lineman is responsible for safely and efficiently performing Civil/Electrical duties at the project site, including climbing structures and assisting in the construction of overhead and underground services.

Responsibilities

Climbs wood poles, lattice structures, and works off steel mono pole structures
Clips over-head structures
Assists in the construction of new overhead and underground services and service upgrades
Operates bucket truck, digger derek, back-hoe, production digger, tensioner, and rope puller
Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude
Ensures that safety is the most important function and follows safe practices while working
Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates 'at risk' behaviors
Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) occurs before scopes of work commence
Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures
Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing
Follows technical, quality, and safety systems in place and determines appropriate action
Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly
Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected
Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures

Required

Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program required
High School Diploma/GED required
Ability to travel domestically 76-100% required
Knowledgeable of OSHA guidelines
Good written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of distribution and transmission lines
Knowledge in framing
Experienced sticking and gloving
Interest in a program of self-development
Willing to accept increased responsibilities
Functional competencies include attention to detail, communication, casting the right shadow, accountability, and ethics and integrity

Preferred

1 or more years of underground and substation experience preferred
