Decision Assistant Editor-Print
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) has been proclaiming the Gospel for over 70 years. They are seeking a Decision Assistant Editor - Print to assist in the production of Decision magazine, which involves conceptualizing, developing, reporting, writing, and editing material for publication, as well as covering BGEA events.

Responsibilities
Uses editorial enterprise and concept-developing skills to seek out evangelical thought leaders as sources in reporting, writing and editing compelling, informative articles about Current Events, Cultural and Theological Issues, BGEA events such Crusades, Festivals and related ministries, and additional features, ensuring that project deadlines are met
Actively participates in turning broad concepts into detailed editorial content for the magazine, ensuring the publication informs about topics consistent with being “The Evangelical Voice for Today,” advancing the work of BGEA and helping readers find or grow in Christ
Selects and commissions leading evangelical authors to write specific articles for Decision, employing knowledge of theology and cultural topics, along with editorial skill, to help prepare the material for publication
Assists senior copy editor in making corrections and changes to layouts, in preparation for mock-up and transmission of files to printing plant
May occasionally address and respond to customer service questions from readers
Edit and/or write special projects
May be called upon to contribute to Decision’s social media accounts
As part of the magazine team, frequent reporting, writing and editing for the Decision website
Research and verify facts in articles, using journalistic skill and theological/biblical knowledge
Proofread and editing responsibilities, from first proofs through final corrections
May be called on to teach at various writing schools across the country
Evaluate unsolicited manuscripts
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA's Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence

Degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent experience
Advanced skills in writing and editing
Able to work with authors to develop articles
Able to understand theological positions and bring manuscripts into line with BGEA position
Able to present Decision well when meeting with authors and attending BGEA events
Familiar with the internet and related technology
Highly knowledgeable in copyediting, grammar and punctuation
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Ability to think logically and when necessary make judgments of leadership quality
Passion for serving Jesus through the BGEA
Christian testimony that is displayed in behavior both in the workplace and outside
