Political Organization
Responsibilities
Lead organizational candidate services for STEM candidates across a portfolio of targeted federal and statewide offices
Collaborate with the recruitment team to evaluate and prepare potential candidates
Work directly with campaign staff and candidates to train and guide them in all aspects of the campaign - fundraising, messaging, strategy, staffing, spending, and, most importantly, how we win
Work with 314 staff to assess candidate viability by grading recruits using a combination of objective and subjective measures of a candidate’s current and potential strength with 314’s innovative candidate grading rubric
Serve as a liaison between the organization and candidates by guiding them through the endorsement process while communicating benchmarks and requirements as well as making recommendations and advocating 314 Action leadership on candidate support
Build and maintain relationships with political consultants and provide recommendations for media consultants, mail consultants, pollsters, digital consultants, and other consultants
Assess the finance program and overall operations of our campaigns and their opponents, and work with teams to develop effective strategies that are appropriate to their individual budgets and resources
Mentor campaign staff and work closely with them to ensure they have the resources, knowledge, and skill set to run a strong campaign. Provide assistance with budgeting, fundraising, campaign planning, paid media, polling, and all other critical aspects of the campaign
Identify and actively recruit candidates and campaign staff with an eye for diversity and inclusion. (73% of our 2022 cycle endorsees identify as women, people of color, or LGBTQ+)
Frequent travel to all assigned campaigns to provide on-the-ground guidance is required - advisors should plan to be in person for the launch of any assigned campaigns that receive our endorsement before announcing
Contribute to and participate in reporting to 314’s Leadership Team
At its broadest, this job is to help our endorsed campaigns in any way that is needed to achieve success on election day
Qualification
Required
Self-starter with at least 6 years of political campaign and electoral experience with campaign management or extensive finance experience required and federal campaign experience preferred
Thrives in an evolving environment
Ability to travel extensively
Strong creativity and problem-solving skills - experience evaluating and diagnosing difficulties as well as developing and implementing effective strategies
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
Exceptional communication skills
Strong analytical skills plus careful attention to detail
Initiative to work independently and follow through on all projects
A great and flexible attitude for a dynamic, campaign-like environment and pace
Ability to work with leaders, staff, and members at all levels of organizations
