Dam Safety Engineering Intern
Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities. The Dam Safety Engineering Intern will support the dam safety program by reviewing field inspection records, assisting with data management, and contributing to safety compliance and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities
Digitize instrumentation forms and field inspection records, transitioning paper-based data into organized digital formats to improve accessibility and database management for the Dam Safety Program
Update and improve technical drawings and create data visualization plots that track dam instrumentation trends, gaining hands-on experience with engineering documentation standards and data analysis tools
Monitor a-data from dam surveillance systems, maintaining accurate records and updating the master instrument list to support ongoing safety compliance and reporting requirements
Assist with developing and implementing a new instrumentation naming convention system, learning asset management practices and contributing to long-term program organization improvements
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in an accredited 2-year or 4-year undergraduate engineering program during their internship
Undergraduate Engineering students will need to maintain a 2.5 GPA or above throughout the internship
Preferred
Enrolled in an accredited Engineering school with a focus on Civil, Water Resources, Structural, Geotechnical or Geology
Coursework completion in statics and dynamics, soil mechanics, engineering hydrology, engineering hydraulics, strength of materials, and/or structural engineering
Demonstrated experience analyzing information and data, preparing memos/reports, presenting results
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, programming language such as Python, R, etc
Strong communication skills
Curiosity and passion for learning
