Responsibilities

Appropriately prioritizes processing and transport of routine and stat specimens
Complies with all established guidelines to ensure integrity of all laboratory specimens
Successfully handles multiple tasks and changing priorities
Complies with all established regulations, policies and procedure regarding packaging and transport
Properly identifies patient/specimen using established policies
Performs specimen collection in an accurate and timely manner
Complies with all established policies regarding specimen labeling
Performs order entry according to established policies in an accurate and timely manner
Performs registration according to established policies in and accurate manner
Can perform all appropriate computer functions (print results, reprint labels, standing orders, batching)
Maintains accurate, organized and legible written records (temperature logs, add-on, stericycle)
Monitors supply inventory and maintains area in neat and organized manner
Utilizes hospital standards for proper phone etiquette

Required

Requires strict adherence to quality control guidelines to ensure the integrity of laboratory specimens and accuracy of results
Assumes responsibility for compliance with all State, Federal, Hospital and Laboratory policies and procedures
Requires multi-campus rotation
Responsible for working weekends, holidays, and for covering other than primary shift, as assigned
Technical Responsibilities related to specimen handling

Clinical Responsibilities related to specimen identification, collection and labeling
Properly identifies patient/specimen using established policies
Performs specimen collection in an accurate and timely manner
Complies with all established policies regarding specimen labeling
Clerical Responsibilities related to processing specimens, computer entry and recordkeeping
Performs order entry according to established policies in an accurate and timely manner
Performs registration according to established policies in an accurate manner
Can perform all appropriate computer functions (print results, reprint labels, standing orders, batching)
Maintains accurate, organized and legible written records (temperature logs, add-on, stericycle)
Monitors supply inventory and maintains area in neat and organized manner
Utilizes hospital standards for proper phone etiquette
Valid State Driver's License

Preferred

High School graduate or equivalent preferred
Successful completion of approved phlebotomy program preferred
Completion of Phlebotomy Internship preferred
1 Year experience preferred
Phlebotomy Certification Preferred
