Responsibilities
Lead Duck Creek engineering: Build and scale high-performing teams across Policy, Billing, and Rating; establish configuration and extension standards; champion reusability, performance, and operability across release trains
Own the Duck Creek roadmap: Define upgrade strategies, cloud optimization patterns, regression/compatibility approaches, and golden-path templates; reduce technical debt while improving resiliency and scalability
Modernize and integrate: Oversee event-driven and API-first integrations between Duck Creek and upstream/downstream platforms. Ensure latency, throughput, and reliability expectations are met
Embed GenAI in the SDLC: Institutionalize use of GitHub Copilot and complementary LLM tooling for code generation, unit/integration test scaffolding, documentation, defect triage, and knowledge retrieval
AI governance & safety: Partner with Security, Risk, and Architecture to implement responsible AI guardrails
Delivery excellence: Ensure scope, schedule, and budget commitments are met. Drive accurate estimation, manage dependencies, and proactively escalate risks
Operate what we build: In partnership with RE/Ops, instrument and monitor Duck Creek platform health and reliability
Partner for outcomes: Collaborate with Product Owners and business leaders to validate value hypotheses, prioritize backlogs, and align with portfolio objectives
Continuously improve: Enforce SDLC, DevSecOps, and Agile best practices; champion automation and non-functional excellence
Qualification
Required
Visionary and execution-focused leadership in software engineering
Experience leading Duck Creek platforms (Policy, Billing, Rating)
Technical strategy development for Duck Creek
Expertise in modernization, cloud optimization, and integration with enterprise systems
Ability to embed AI tools and practices to improve developer productivity, quality, and time-to-value
Comfortable with coding, architecting, and driving strategic initiatives
Ability to translate platform roadmaps into reliable, secure, and scalable delivery on AWS
Experience in building and scaling high-performing teams
Establishing configuration and extension standards
Championing reusability, performance, and operability across release trains

Managing regression/compatibility approaches and reducing technical debt
