Responsibilities
Researches, plans, designs, and develops repairs and modernization for various piping systems, valves, and associated control equipment
Mentors and provides guidance to less-experienced Engineers and other personnel within the department
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience
Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program
Preferred
The ideal candidate is familiar with the US Navy aircraft carrier modernization and maintenance process, particularly planning and executing refueling complex overhauls (RCOHs) of aircraft carrier propulsion plants
Strong technical background in one or more of the following areas is preferred: fluid mechanics, strength of materials, fasteners, shock analysis, GD&T, and/or repair of machinery or piping system components
Familiar with Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
SAP or similar ERP experience
Excellent communication skills
