The State of Maryland is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the next Director of Information Technology. In this pivotal role, you will partner with the Chief Information Officer and executive leadership to shape and execute a technology roadmap that drives innovation and efficiency across the organization.

Responsibilities

Partner with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and executive leadership to shape and execute a forward-thinking technology roadmap
Design, build, and maintain reliable, high-performance IT solutions that drive innovation and efficiency across the organization
Lead IT teams to implement cross-functional or enterprise-wide initiatives
Develop and execute IT strategy along with business goals and technology roadmaps
Implement security frameworks and vulnerability management

Required

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
8 years of progressively advancing experience in information technology to include hands-on background in multiple IT domains such as infrastructure, applications, security, networking, and data systems
Hands-on experience in infrastructure management, including: Cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS), Network security, firewall administration (e.g., Cisco, PaloAlto), Disaster recovery planning, Microsoft Exchange, SQL
5 years in IT management or leadership roles (e.g., IT manager, senior manager, infrastructure manager)
Direct experience leading IT teams implement cross-functional or enterprise-wide initiatives
Proven ability to hire, mentor, evaluate and retain IT staff
Experience developing and executing IT strategy along with business goals and technology roadmaps
Experience presenting to and interacting with leadership
Proven experience implementing security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, IRS) and vulnerability management
For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service

Preferred

Hands-on experience in infrastructure management, including: Zero Trust platforms, PaloAlto firewalls, Enterprise Resource Planning systems, SQL Server, SAN/NAS, Telephony, Enterprise software rollouts
