Responsibilities

Design and maintain standardized, reproducible development environments for research scientists
Own dependency, build, and release management across interdependent research software projects
Develop and streamline CI/CD pipelines for low-overhead automated testing and rapid deployment
Manage hybrid infrastructure spanning cloud services and on-prem physical hardware
Automate provisioning and configuration using infrastructure-as-code solutions (e.g. Docker, AWS CDK)
Maintain Amazon’s high security bar without slowing down the pace of internal development
Implement best practices for observability and monitoring to enable rapid debugging and high service uptime
Empower others to actively contribute to the codebase through mentorship and documentation

Required

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
Experience with Linux/Unix
Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Experience with using infrastructure-as-code to design and deploy cloud services
Experience with the full software development lifecycle (planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance)

Preferred

Experience working with scientists in a research environment
Experience with AWS tools and services (e.g. CDK)
Experience with DevSecOps features in GitLab Ultimate
Experience setting up standardized, reproducible Python environments
Experience with AWS on-prem hardware solutions (e.g. Outpost)
Experience with networking and network security fundamentals
Experience with Kubernetes or high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure
Experience in experimental physics or quantum computing
