Habitat & Access/Access Yes Technician 2026-00054

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking two Habitat & Access/Access Yes Technicians to support public access and wildlife management efforts. The selected individuals will assist with wildlife surveys, land management, and maintenance duties associated with various properties managed by the department.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Assist Regional Access Coordinators with sign maintenance, hunting and fishing season presence and landowner relations
Assist Regional Habitat and Access Coordinators with WHMA and PAA maintenance, and habitat enhancement projects
Communicate effectively and provide customer service with landowners, sportsmen and Department personnel
Assist with wildlife surveys and wildlife data collection
Support hunting and fishing public outreach efforts
Perform habitat and access improvement projects on Department-owned and managed lands
Assist with general maintenance of WHMA’s, PAA’s and Access Yes properties
Work collaboratively with regional staff and other partners to complete assigned projects

Required

Must have a valid driver's license
Ability to work early mornings, late evenings and weekend work will be required
Positions may require extended stays in campers
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Excellent physical condition and ability to work outside and perform under adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain, often for long periods
Will be required to work alone in the field in a rural setting
Ability to positively work with and facilitate relationships with the ranching and hunting communities and other interested individuals as a team
Ability to use small power and non-power hand tools
Able to safely operate a 4-wheel drive pickup and ATV in various terrain and road conditions

Preferred

Preference may be given to those with, or working towards a bachelor's degree in wildlife management, range management, biology, zoology, or ichthyology
As well as those with a farm or ranch background
