Responsibilities
Perform molecular, biochemical, and cellular research projects aimed at developing novel treatments and surgical technologies for lower urinary tract reconstruction
Execute routine experimental protocols and procedures in animal experiments, the use of human specimens, tissue culture, protein isolation, proteomics and microscopy
Perform a variety of cell culture and tissue culture procedures and assays and trained to perform specialized tests related to urodynamics and tissue tension on tissue and scaffold preparation
Conduct physiological and mechanical testing of bladder and urethra; structural analysis, including histologic and scanning electron microscopic tissue evaluation; and extracellular matrix protein assays
Assist with duties related to lab operations including supply management, equipment maintenance and calibration, preparation of laboratory materials and reagents, handling of live animals, assistance in surgical procedures, and tissue preparation and analysis
Maintain tissue procurement logs, maintenance and reporting of data obtained in ongoing experiments, and maintenance of the lab in line with all safety and regulatory requirements
Oversee undergraduate students and Research Fellows in the lab
Qualification
Preferred
Knowledge and ability to perform core laboratory techniques, including cell culture, animal husbandry, and general lab procedures
Ability to read and interpret experimental protocols, perform accurate calculations for chemical and biological solution preparation, and adapt effectively to new experimental tasks as they arise
Research documentation and analytical skills, including maintaining accurate and complete records, identifying irregularities or invalid results, making precise measurements and observations, collaborating effectively within a research team, and communicating clearly in both written and verbal formats to support laboratory operations
Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to properly use, maintain, and troubleshoot standard laboratory equipment
