Clinical Quality Coordinator

Responsibilities
Identify patient population for inclusion in the program through the application of program inclusion/exclusion criteria and protocols
Collect appropriate patient information for the program through the effective utilization of the medical record
Attend weekly Morbidity and Mortality conferences to ensure reliable data collection of adverse occurrences
Demonstrate applicability of the methodology and reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers within the program through inter-rater reliability testing
Identify streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process
Demonstrate appropriate utilization of resources necessary to obtain valid, reliable data for entry into the database
Utilize software applications for data collection and analysis
Analyze data and present solutions in coordination with physician and staff to improve processes
Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of data into the database and meets caseload accrual requirement protocol
Establish effective working relationships with members of the hospital, especially staff in nursing, health information management, and informatics
Contacts patients and families via telephone or written communication as needed for the database
Serve as educational resource on the database for internal and external audiences by developing educational materials and delivering presentations
Participates in required program teleconferences
Participates in required national conference annually
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy
Three years of experience in a hospital setting required
Diploma/Associate's Degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy
Three years of quality outcomes experience in a hospital setting required
Master's degree
One year of experience in a hospital setting required
Three years of healthcare experience with emphasis on process improvement activities and productivity systems
One year of clinical chart review and abstraction
Successfully complete the required trainings of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI)
Must be able to build relationships and gain alignment for clinical support and articulate questions to receive appropriate level of support from supervisors, surgeons, and peers
Ability to interact with all members of the surgical team and administrative staff in a professional and courteous manner
Must be able to use MS Word, Excel, Access, and other software to collect, analyze, and present data
Must demonstrate knowledge and competency in the following areas: Computer literacy, Assertiveness, Community and system resources, Flexibility, Effective interpersonal relations, Diplomacy, Written and verbal communication, & Negotiation Analysis and research methods
