Research Scientist I - Prostate Cancer
Moffitt Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in Florida, dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer. They are seeking a Research Scientist I to conduct independent and collaborative research focused on the molecular and cellular mechanisms driving cancer progression, particularly in leptomeningeal disease.

Responsibilities
Design and execute hypothesis-driven experiments using in vitro, in vivo, and/or omics-based approaches to address key questions in cancer biology
Analyze, interpret, and present data in lab meetings, institutional seminars, and scientific conferences
Maintain accurate and organized research records and contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing, and peer-reviewed publications
Stay current with relevant scientific literature and bring innovative ideas and critical thinking to the lab’s research direction
Collaborate with internal and external teams, including clinicians, bioinformaticians, and core facilities, to advance translational aspects of the research
Demonstrate a strong commitment to scientific integrity, teamwork, and professional development
Qualification
Required
PhD or MD in Cellular and Molecular Biology, or Cancer Biology
Must have at least two (2) years total experience as a Postdoc or post PhD science experience in a relevant field
Solid understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and systems biology concepts
Have worked in a basic science lab with a good grasp on techniques including cell culture, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, immuno assays
Have some hands-on experience with in vivo models (i.e., murine xenograft/allograft models)
Proven expertise in bioinformatics, including the analysis and interpretation of high-throughput biological data (e.g., RNA-seq, WES/WGS, scRNA-seq)
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary research teams
Preferred
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics such as Python, R, or Perl, and familiarity with tools like Bioconductor, BLAST, GATK, or STAR is a plus
