HR Generalist/Payroll Specialist - Full Time ADP Experience Required
H&M Trucking is seeking an HR Generalist/Payroll Specialist to manage day-to-day human resources functions and ensure accurate processing of multi-state payroll. This role involves supporting talent acquisition, benefits administration, employee relations, and payroll compliance while collaborating with the Chief People Officer and maintaining HR documentation.

Responsibilities
Administer and support HR programs including onboarding, benefits administration, training, records management, safety initiatives, employee relations, and regulatory compliance
Coordinate employee benefits activities, including enrollments, changes, claims resolution, and employee communication
Prepare and maintain HR documentation such as offer letters, compensation changes, corrective actions, and other employee-related correspondence
Maintain accurate and confidential digital employee records related to personnel files, benefits, attendance, and compliance
Conduct new hire orientations and educate employees on company policies, procedures, and culture
Assist with employee engagement initiatives and support company-wide HR programs
Support training and development efforts and maintain HRIS data integrity
Collaborate with external vendors and internal leadership to ensure consistent HR standards and best practices
Handle sensitive employee matters with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality
Process accurate and timely weekly and semi-monthly multi-state payrolls
Review timecards, calculate wages, reconcile payroll adjustments, and ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations
Administer payroll deductions including garnishments, child support, and benefit withholdings
Enter and maintain employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, and changes
Provide payroll system support to employees, including troubleshooting and guidance on payroll applications
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and professionally
Reconcile payroll deductions and balances; track amounts owed and paid
Prepare payroll reports and communicate payroll-related information to leadership as needed
Assist with special payroll, HR audits, and projects as assigned
Serve as backup support within the HR department and assist the accounting department when necessary
Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and embracing new initiatives and responsibilities
Qualification
Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
High level of professionalism with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Advanced computer proficiency, including HR/payroll systems and Microsoft Office
ADP experience required
Strong interpersonal skills with empathy and sound judgment
Comfort with public speaking and group presentations
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 1–3 years of combined HR and payroll processing experience
Working knowledge of employment laws, payroll regulations, and HR best practices
