Facilities Equipment Technician I HVAC
The City of Mesa is seeking a Facilities Equipment Technician I for their HVAC/R assignment within the Facilities Management Department. The role primarily involves skilled work in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration, including installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/R systems, as well as supervising other workers when necessary.
Responsibilities
Perform skilled work in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC/R) in City buildings
Perform a wide variety of skilled tasks in installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/R
Perform skilled tasks in electrical, plumbing, evaporative coolers, and other mechanical equipment
Exercise lead supervision over semiskilled and unskilled workers
Troubleshoot malfunctions and determine the proper method of repair
Use appropriate safety equipment and procedures in performing assignments
Qualification
Required
Successful completion of an HVAC apprenticeship program (must provide written certification)
Considerable (3 - 5 years) commercial, journey-level HVAC experience
Must possess a valid Class D Arizona Driver's License by hire or promotion date
Must possess an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) refrigeration certification card
Pass a background investigation through the City of Mesa Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to commencing employment
Subject to pre-employment or pre-placement alcohol, drug and/or controlled substance testing
Preferred
Good (1 - 3 years) experience in a related trade and knowledge of computers and Energy Management Systems
Training and experience in low temperature refrigeration
