Principal Texture & Pipeline Artist
MetaTailor is redefining how digital characters get dressed with their next-generation avatar clothing system. They are seeking a senior, hands-on 3D texture artist to own the visual quality bar of their marketplace and to build and evolve production pipelines.
Responsibilities
Produce gold-standard PBR textures and materials
Establish clear visual and technical standards for marketplace content
Ensure consistency, realism, and polish across all assets
Design scalable asset pipelines using modern tools
Leverage Substance Painter / Designer and emerging AI workflows responsibly
Optimize for speed, quality, and repeatability (not shortcuts)
Create clear briefs, specs, and examples
Review submissions with fast, decisive feedback
Raise outsource quality over time through better systems, not micromanagement
Help decide what content to build and why
Identify high-value categories and kill low-ROI ideas early
Shape collections that differentiate MetaTailor’s marketplace
Assemble full avatars and outfits using MetaTailor
Stress-test layering, fitment, textures, and edge cases
Create high-quality sample characters for marketing, demos, and launches
Help define what 'possible' looks like on the platform
Qualification
Required
Senior-level 3D texture / lookdev artist
Strong PBR fundamentals and real-time asset experience
Deep experience with Substance Painter / Designer
Proven shipped work (games, marketplaces, live products, or similar)
Strong visual taste and the ability to explain why something works or doesn't
Preferred
Strong over-communicator. You are a team player skilled in communicating with colleagues both in person and remotely
Self-starter. As part of a small start-up team, you should have strong enthusiasm and take initiative in what you do
Creative mind. You should have interest in pushing tools beyond their obvious use cases, as well as comfort experimenting with AI-assisted workflows
