Responsibilities
Assist with background research (including literature review)
Gather data from primary and secondary sources
Data cleaning and manipulation
Data visualization
Statistical analysis
Gain exposure to the different stages of a research project—formulating a research question, surveying the literature, working with data, and various elements of empirical analysis, including running regressions and the creation of informative tables and figures
Focus on topics ranging from migration policy both in the US and Latin America, the future of work, economic mobility, to industrial policy and regional economic development
Qualification
Required
Open to undergraduate students in their junior or senior year, completing a degree in a relevant field (i.e. economics, physics, data science, applied mathematics, etc.) or graduate students pursuing a masters degree
Demonstrated interest in public policy, emerging markets/migration/labor economics
Some working knowledge of statistics and econometrics, with R/Python/Stata
Experience with large datasets and data visualization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Located in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
Successful completion of a background investigation is required for interning at Brookings

Preferred
Availability for at least 30 hr/week and 3 days in person
