Patient Registration Receptionist-SOM
University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Patient Registration Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients in a clinical setting. This role involves greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, and providing clerical support to clinical staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
Greet, register, and check in patients upon arrival to the clinic
Act as the first point of contact and provide a positive patient experience
Schedule patient appointments, procedures, and diagnostic tests
Answer and appropriately route incoming phone calls
Prepare orders, distribute patient charts, and update patient demographic and insurance information
Prepare, collect, and reconcile charge tickets
Balance monies collected and prepare daily activity and reconciliation reports
Assist patients with questions, concerns, and general needs
Provide clerical and administrative support to clinic staff as needed
Respond effectively to the needs of patients ranging from newborn through geriatric populations
Adhere to UAB policies, HIPAA guidelines, and clinic workflows
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED
One (1) year of related experience in a medical office, clinic, or customer service environment
Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment
Preferred
Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
Experience with patient registration systems, scheduling software, or electronic medical records (EMR)
Cash handling or billing experience
