Responsibilities
Develop analytical thinking and econometric skills
Assist with background research (including literature review)
Gather data from primary and secondary sources
Clean and manipulate data
Conduct basic statistical analysis
Gain exposure to different stages of a research project—formulating a research question, surveying the literature, working with data, and various elements of empirical analysis, including running regressions and the creation of informative tables and figures
Qualification
Required
Open to undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior or senior year, completing a degree in a relevant field (i.e. economics, public policy, applied mathematics, data science, etc.) or graduate students pursuing a masters degree
Demonstrated interest in public policy and economics
Some working knowledge of statistics and econometrics, with R/Python/Stata
Experience with large datasets and data visualization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Availability for at least 30 hours/week and 3 days in person
Located in the U.S. for the duration of the internship
Successful completion of a background investigation is required for interning at Brookings
