The New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities (IBR) is seeking a Neuropathologist to join and supervise a team of scientists focused on Alzheimer’s Disease and Autism research. The role involves conducting stereological studies of neurodegeneration, maintaining the Brain and Tissue Bank, and overseeing various laboratory services.

Responsibilities
Engage in stereological study of neurodegeneration and neuronal loss in the entorhinal cortex and hippocampal formation in the brain
Complete neuropathological staging
Focus on developmental abnormalities in the corpus collosum of brains
Continue to maintain the current NYS IBR Brain and Tissue Bank’s collection of frozen and formal in fixed brain tissue
Oversee its expansion
Utilize Microscopy Services including Confocal, Light Sheet and Electron microscopy
Conduct Mass Spectrometry
Manage Laboratory Animal Resource Center
Provide Editorial/Grant Writing Services and Statistical Analysis
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. and eight years of professional research experience in the field of Neuropathology
A doctoral degree (e.g. MD, PhD, DVM, etc.) in a relevant scientific discipline
Evidence of an ability to obtain independent funding to grow and sustain their research program
