Los Valles Program Coordinator

Conservation Legacy is a nationwide non-profit organization focused on conservation and community projects. The Program Coordinator is responsible for fostering a healthy culture within the SCC Los Valles programs, recruiting and training crew members, and ensuring safety and quality in field operations.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Foster a healthy and welcoming culture within the SCC Los Valles programs
Recruit and select Crew Members for SCC’s camping and day programs
Participate in the planning and execution of Crew Leader and Member trainings
Coordinate communication between the field and the office
Support and mentor all field staff, including seasonal Field Technicians, Crew Leaders and Members
Ensure crews are supported and prepared to maintain safety, program integrity, and quality projects in the field
Assist the Program Manager to recruit, hire and train Crew Leaders, Field Technicians, and contract instructors
Conduct regular field visits to assess the status of crews and project work
Overnight camping is required for this position to support crews throughout their field experience by fostering positive relationships with Crew Leaders, Members, and project partners
Ensure project quality on all projects by providing technical expertise and training on trail maintenance techniques, saw skills, and leadership
Assist with de-rig and post-hitch check-in’s with Crew Leaders and Members
Model and teach risk management procedures in the field to create a safe working environment
Enforce all SCC Policies and Procedures
Participate in an on-call system for crews in the field
Collaborate with program staff to develop and implement training including technical trails, chainsaw, leadership, and facilitation skills throughout the year
Collaborate with the FC/LV Program Teams to implement best practices for working with youth and young adults to operate programming efficiently and consistently
Be a role model and mentor - provide encouragement, guidelines, and supervision to Crew Leaders throughout their training period and continuing into their field season
Develop and maintain partnerships with community and project partners
Assist in developing new programming and improving current programming by utilizing feedback collected from participants and leaders
Manage multiple databases for recruitment, selection, payroll, and AmeriCorps information and onboarding
Work closely with Administrative Staff to ensure compliance with paperwork tasks and AmeriCorps requirements for Crew Leaders and Crew Members
Manage and maintain accurate reporting of all necessary information and complete program reports including field site visits, recruiting notes, and field/yard inventories
Utilize photos, videos, and fieldnotes to create promotional content for LV programs, including informational fliers, recruitment presentations, and social media posts
Collaborate and maintain communication with other staff, including attending regular staff meetings
Work within an established program budget; manage credit cards, receipts, and financial reporting
Assist Program Director and Manager with end of year reporting
Successfully engages, leads, and supports a positive work environment for all within the organization and the communities we serve
Leads and/or participates in organizational-wide teams, projects and initiatives that support the work of the Strategic Plans goals
Reports any potential complaints within the organization as identified in the Personnel Policy Manual
Assists or leads other responsibilities, as assigned

Required

Minimum of two years of experience in corps programming
Experienced skill level in all or most of the following: trail construction and maintenance, crosscut and chainsaw operation and maintenance, fencing, herbicide application, front country and backcountry travel
Ability to plan, teach, and facilitate trainings for the above skills
Certified Wilderness First Responder or ability to acquire within 6 months of hiring
Wilderness First Aid/CPR Instructor Certificate or ability to acquire within 6 months of hiring
Ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and applications, or similar platforms
Ability to keep others and oneself, in remote locations, accountable to expectations
Ability to work well with others and to seek assistance when needed to carry out assignments
Valid Driver's License and Insurable Driving Record per Personnel Policies
Must be able to pass the organization's criminal history check requirements
Ability to successfully work in a fluid, changing work environment
