Database Administrator
ARCO, A Family of Construction Companies, is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join their Technology team. In this role, you will manage, optimize, and safeguard enterprise database environments, focusing on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure, while collaborating with various teams to ensure data platforms are secure and high-performing.

Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database environments
Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, and scalability
Support compliance, internal controls, and data maturity efforts (e.g., CMMI Level 2) by maintaining well-documented, secure, and audit-ready database environments
Implement and maintain data security controls, including data classification and tagging, row-level security (RLS), auditing, and least-privilege access, ensuring alignment with enterprise security and compliance standards
Apply patches, updates, and version upgrades with minimal downtime
Design, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
Perform routine reviews of database usage and dependencies to identify unused or underutilized databases, and partner with stakeholders to safely sunset, archive, or decommission them in accordance with security, compliance, and data retention standards
Ensure data consistency, integrity, and accuracy across enterprise systems
Perform capacity planning and storage optimization
Monitor system health and proactively identify performance and security risks, including unauthorized access attempts, permission drift, and encryption status; troubleshoot and remediate issues as needed
Analyze slow-running queries, optimize indexes, and resolve blocking or locking issues
Support integrations with various source systems, including ERP, CRM, APIs, flat files, and cloud services
Understand and document how non-SQL systems store, move, and exchange data
Qualification
Required
5-7 years of experience as a Database Administrator with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server
Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database and related Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Microsoft Fabric)
Advanced proficiency in T-SQL for performance tuning, stored procedures, and query optimization
Experience implementing database security and access best practices
Proven ability to manage large, mission-critical databases in enterprise environments
Preferred
Experience with database automation and monitoring tools
Familiarity with additional relational or non-relational platforms (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Experience with data integration tools such as SSIS or Microsoft Fabric
Exposure to BI and reporting platforms such as Power BI or Tableau
Understanding of DevOps or CI/CD concepts related to database deployments
