Postdoctoral Fellow- MCG Pharmacology & Toxicology

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. The Postdoctoral Fellow position is designed to carry out advanced independent research, participate in data collection and analysis, and contribute to NIH-funded research projects investigating the interactions of HIV-1 Tat protein with substances like cocaine and methamphetamine.

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing in vitro and ex vivo experiments, maintaining animal colony, and conducting animal behavior assessments
Responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed data records, data analysis/summary/report, writing manuscripts, preparing abstracts/presenting in scientific conferences, preparing annual reports to PI, and preparing independent proposal for funding
Guide training of lab technicians, students, conduct secondary lab projects, and maintain daily lab function by participating in procurement, animal colony maintenance, genotyping and general lab maintenance
Contribute to reviewing manuscripts, communication and dissemination of findings at conferences, talks, attending college/department seminars, and meetings
Perform all other duties as assigned

Required

Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred

Ph.D. in Neuroscience, neuropharmacology, behavior pharmacology or related discipline
Expertise in neuropharmacology or neuroscience, which could have been gained during the normal course of a doctoral degree program, plus competence in rodent handling and strong analytical and statistical skills
Training and interest in regulation of monoamine transporter are encouraged to apply
Experience in cell couture, Fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV), rodent behavior testing (cognitive, depressive and drug rewarding effects), or neuropharmacology is desirable
