Student Hourly: Lab and Collections Assistant
The Center for Public Partnerships & Research is dedicated to studying past and present life on Earth through the KU Biodiversity Institute & Natural History Museum. They are seeking a Lab and Collections Assistant to manage fossil specimens, including inventorying and relocating them, while also performing light cleaning duties.
Higher Education
Responsibilities
85% - Inventory fossil specimens, use Microsoft Excel to create and edit a spreadsheet with specimen data
10% - Assist with relocating fossil specimens (specimen handling training provided)
5% - Light cleaning/dusting
Qualification
Required
Basic knowledge of Excel as evidenced by application materials
Good/effective organizational skills as evidenced by application materials
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours
Ability to climb a ladder and work at a height with or without accommodation
Preferred
Ability to read cursive as evidenced by application materials
Previous experience working with a collection
