Responsibilities

Monitor budgets on a monthly basis, confirm accuracy and conduct variance and trend analysis of actual vs. budget and actual vs. prior periods, and communicate results with departmental and finance leadership
Prepare reporting packages and financial templates with detailed analysis based on requirements from leadership
Prepare forecasts to measure year-to-date activity against full-year budgets and assist faculty and other senior leadership with operational and strategic planning with relevant financial data
Monitor personnel allocations across accounts and, at times, direct appropriate staff to process required changes
Review and investigate departmental financial transactions, as well as book journal entries, both requiring familiarity with general accounting standards
Ensure compliant use of all funding sources including philanthropy and recommend and implement changes to maintain balanced accounts and help resolve funding overages when necessary
Assist in developing short and long term departmental annual budgets including historical analysis and future projections
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis for special projects
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with the necessary corporate teams to address relevant issues and process improvement
Contribute energetically to an environment of effective financial reporting and analysis, time management and prioritization, compliance with regulations, and adoption of leading practices
Other duties as assigned
Submits transactions in PeopleSoft HCM related to eHires, salary allocation changes, promotions, leaves of absences and terminations. Ensuring appropriate budget availability and accurate chartstrings
Reviews and approves PeopleSoft Financials transactions related to requisitions, PCard verifications and travel and expense reports, with an understanding of business expense policies and verifying budget availability
Submits requests for new non-sponsored chartstrings as needed
Submits requests for Fund 53 extensions to Development
Submits eJVs or Cost Transfers to transfer expenses as needed
Prepares and submits supplemental compensation for affiliation and non-affiliation related work
Track the accuracy of supplemental comp submissions based on the established criteria
Prepares JOC requests for Affiliation related transactions
Prepares monthly P&L report with commentary and uploads to Finance SharePoint
Prepares monthly updates to Recruitment Fund chartstrings
Prepares monthly analysis of GME and 11-E
Prepares monthly analysis of non-sponsored chartstrings directly managed by faculty/Principal Investigators
Prepares monthly analysis of revenue
Audits, monitors and schedules reports of departmental financial activities, such as faculty expenditures, human subject payment activities, and funding allocation changes
Prepared ad-hoc salary worksheets and other reports
Assist with preparation of clinical productivity reports and analysis

Required

Bachelor Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
1-3 years relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong customer service and problem solving skill sets

Preferred

Experience with Enterprise Systems. PeopleSoft or Oracle preferred
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
