2+ years expThe State of Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is looking for a Skilled Maintainer to join their Engineering, Safety and Sustainability Division in Portland, CT. This position is essential for assisting with the manufacture and distribution of wood products used in various DEEP programs and involves leading lower-level employees in the operation and maintenance of the facility.

Responsibilities
Assisting the DEEP Sawyer with the manufacture and distribution of wood products used by the DEEP programs including State Parks, Fisheries, Forestry, Wildlife, Boating, and others
Leading lower-level employees in the operation, repair, maintenance of the Portland Complex facility including the infrastructure, equipment, and grounds
Qualification
Required
Two (2) years of experience in one of the following areas: one of the skilled trades; landscape maintenance or vegetable gardening; operation of motor trucks or large buses
Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma designating completion of subject requirements in a maintenance trade area may be substituted for the General Experience
Considerable knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, materials and procedures of specific trade or work area concerned
Knowledge of maintenance problems and their proper handling
Skills: manual and machine operations of trade or work area skills; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Ability to utilize computer software
Preferred
Experience communicating both orally and in writing to stakeholders
Experience managing conflict in a team environment
Experience with operating a frontend loader
Experience in a stationary sawmill and industrial planermill production
Experience operating diesel trucks of 5 tons or more, loading, and securing material loads
Experience following directions and working independently
Experience performing tasks in lumber manufacturing
Experience with industrial woodworking machinery
Experience with performing tasks with equipment and machinery maintenance
