Senior Gate Technician (Control Panel Technician)

The Senior Gate Technician is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and repair of parking technology systems, leading major repair efforts, and collaborating on network security initiatives.

Responsibilities
Leads major repair efforts and overseeing the installation of new parking equipment
Configures and deploys network components, including switches, firewalls, and related infrastructure
Performs software and hardware upgrades across parking systems and connected devices
Collaborates with UITS on firewall management, network security initiatives, and License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology
Supports the Sr. Parking Operations Technology Manager by helping train and mentor other technicians, ensuring consistent skill development across the team
Monitors, evaluates, and controls a variety of computerized electrical and mechanical systems controlling utilities; maintains operating logs; records readings; evaluates conditions; diagnoses problems
Contacts appropriate craft to resolve complex problems; explains problem and severity of difficulty; makes recommendation of priority
Gathers and collates data for reports and summaries; prepares service request tickets; keeps daily logs
Answers phone; takes emergency calls and service requests from building users
Maintains radio and pager contact with night operations and other departments
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
2 years of relative experience with 1 year building maintenance experience
Proficient communication skills
Maintains a high degree of professionalism
Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Highly thorough and dependable
Knowledge of campus operations
Knowledge of a variety of crafts involved in facility and physical plan maintenance
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to prepare records and reports
Ability to exercise independent judgment
