Responsibilities
Manage finance staff at both Southern California News Group and San Diego Union Tribune
Review monthly financial results for accuracy and integrity; evaluate end of month explanation of variances (Day 7 & Day 10)
Oversee accuracy of product P&L’s and Orb
Handle monthly and quarterly corporate review questions
Assess corporate audit questions prior to submission
Own payroll portion of budget models
Participate in reviewing all departmental budgets (Revenue & Expense)
Maintain all payroll related reports
Calculate monthly/quarterly bonus calculations for advertising VP’s, quarterly bonus calculations for Production Managers, and monthly bonus calculations for editorial photo revenue share
Submit biweekly miscellaneous bonus payroll payments
Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers
Use logic to solve difficult problems and make timely, high-quality decisions under pressure
Meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind

Qualification
Required
Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Experience budgeting and working on online accounting systems
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
Excellent time management and planning skills, efficiently scoping projects, and prioritizing efforts
Creativity with the ability to develop value-added ideas and insights in brainstorming settings
Possess strong written communication: clear, succinct, and effective across all settings
Comfortable with risk, can shift priorities easily, and doesn't require the entire picture to decide and take action, you remain calm when circumstances are constantly evolving
