Responsibilities
Support a team of 10 engineers responsible for several key UI surfaces within the Google Messages app
Advocate for the team, helping individuals grow and succeed while aligning team strategy, processes, and decision-making
Work with cross-functional product manager/user experience peers and technical leads on the team to set the product roadmap, plan, and deliver features
Balance the need to build new features while proactively identifying areas for improvement and advocating for quality and reliability efforts
Develop and drive the engineering execution plan for both new initiatives and long-running projects while providing technical leadership to the team
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience
8 years of experience in software development (e.g., Java, Kotlin)
3 years of experience with android application development
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role
Preferred
Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization
Experience building mobile applications on android
Experience with mobile apps with a large user-base
Experience managing 6 engineers as an engineering manager or technical lead manager
