Manager, Mobile Asset Monetization & Secondary Markets

The Manager, Mobile Asset Monetization & Secondary Markets is responsible for owning the revenue, margin, and resale strategy for returned, excess, and decommissioned mobile and telecom devices, negotiating agreements, and optimizing resale channels.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end monetization strategy for mobile and telecom assets, with accountability for recovery rates, resale revenue, and margin performance
Develop pricing strategies based on device condition, lifecycle stage, demand signals, and secondary market dynamics
Identify and expand resale channels (brokers, carriers, OEM programs, exporters, direct buyers) to maximize asset value
Make final pricing and channel allocation decisions based on market conditions, inventory risk, and margin objectives
Maintain deep expertise in mobile device secondary markets, including grading standards, refurbishment economics, and global resale trends
Track pricing fluctuations, demand shifts, and technology cycles impacting smartphones, tablets, and telecom equipment
Advise internal stakeholders on go-to-market decisions for recovered assets
Negotiate commercial agreements with buyers, resellers, OEMs, carriers, and asset recovery partners
Structure buy-back, trade-in, and resale arrangements to optimize yield and reduce inventory risk
Serve as the primary commercial interface for external monetization partners
Lead multiple asset monetization programs across the organization, coordinating with operations, supply chain, finance, and engineering
Translate operational inputs (testing, grading, refurbishment timelines) into revenue-maximizing resale strategies
Influence internal processes to improve speed-to-market and value recovery without directly managing staff
Track and report KPIs including recovery rates, average resale price, margin by device type, and channel performance
Build business cases for new resale channels, refurbishment investments, and monetization initiatives
Partner with finance to forecast revenue and optimize working capital tied to recovered assets
Ensure resale and disposition strategies align with environmental regulations, data security standards, and corporate sustainability objectives
Balance commercial outcomes with responsible recycling and ethical asset disposition
This role will have direct reports
Occasional travel required (up to 20%) to warehouses, vendor sites, and resale partners

Required

Demonstrated success negotiating buy/sell agreements and driving revenue and margin outcomes in secondary markets
Hands-on knowledge of mobile device grading, refurbishment economics, and resale channel dynamics
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market pricing data, recovery rates, and margin performance
Experience leveraging ERP, asset tracking, or pricing systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) to support monetization decisions
Proven ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and finance teams
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, logistics, or a closely related field
8+ years of experience in mobile device monetization, secondary markets, recommerce, ITAD, or telecom asset recovery
Proven experience pricing, selling, or trading mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, CPE) at scale
Prior experience working with carriers, OEMs, mobile recommerce firms, or ITAD providers

Preferred

Familiarity with international secondary markets, exports, and regulatory considerations preferred
MBA or advanced degree in business or supply chain preferred
