Responsibilities
Prepare, submit, and track permit applications for underground fiber construction
Coordinate with city, county, and state agencies regarding trenching, boring, conduit placement, and restoration standards
Review design packages for permitting completeness and accuracy
Ensure all required drawings, TCPs, and documentation meet local standards
Maintain direct communication with Dayton-area AHJs throughout the approval cycle
Flag potential delays or documentation gaps before submission
Manage timelines, re-submittals, approvals, and follow-ups
Maintain comprehensive permitting logs and compliance records
Serve as the permitting subject-matter expert for the Dayton region
Qualification
Required
Hands-on experience submitting and managing permits for underground OSP fiber projects
Must have permitting experience with Dayton-area agencies, including: City of Dayton, Montgomery County, Greene County, Beavercreek, Kettering, Huber Heights, Ohio DOT District 7/8
Understanding of underground fiber construction (trenching, HDD, conduit installation, restoration rules)
Ability to interpret OSP drawings, utility maps, and traffic control plans
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple permitting workflows across multiple agencies
Ideally resides in Ohio, but may be remote if they have prior verifiable Dayton permitting experience
Preferred
Permitting coordination for fiber builders, carriers, or engineering firms
Experience with underground fiber routes serving enterprise or data centers
Familiarity with AES Ohio and local public works offices
Understanding of HDD approvals, utility conflicts, microtrenching requirements
Experience with permitting portals and project tracking systems
