Responsibilities
Investigates, evaluates, settles and/or defends a high volume of first party glass lawsuits, applying claims policies and procedures
Demonstrates an understanding of insurance law as it relates to claims and litigation; maintains knowledge of auto insurance policies and Florida legal landscape; and stays abreast of legal trends and case law
Reviews, evaluates, and assesses exposure of auto glass claims. Ensures claim files are properly documented
Refers lawsuits to approved defense attorneys and coordinates their handling, including the authorization of discovery actions and motion practices while also managing legal expenses
Attends depositions and attends trials and/or mediation sessions as necessary
Handles settlement of claims, including making appropriate contacts to discuss a settlement; extending an offer to appropriate party, and documenting all file activity, payment/settlement information in file notes and a clear outline of the basis for settlement
Maintains the diary, note pad and closing ratio per established goals
Recognizes and refers all potential subrogation and SIU claims. Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
An associates degree in a related field is highly desirable; a high school diploma or equivalency is required
At least 5+ years successful handling of first party auto claims
Must currently hold or have the ability to secure and maintain Florida adjuster license(s) within 60 days of employment; must complete continuing education credits for licensure
Knowledge of FL insurance laws and regulations
Knowledge of appraisal clause process and glass repair process
Ability to multi-task in a time sensitive environment and handle job responsibilities with a sense of urgency
Thorough knowledge of insurance coverages, contracts and claims handling guidelines
Analytical skills necessary to make decisions and resolve complex issues inherent in handling losses
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and customers
Strong analytical and negotiation abilities
Excellent organizational and time management skills required
Intermediate to advanced knowledge & skill in Microsoft Office products
Ability to work independently, think creatively and exercise sound judgment
Ability to prioritize activities and projects while staying organized
Ability to process high volumes of work while meeting deadlines
Have a solid understanding of the claims policies and procedures in resolving glass suits
High degree of initiative, technical judgement, and discretion
Have a solid understanding of how to review, evaluate, and assess exposure
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent communication with the team and our customers
Have the ability to think critically, solve problems, and embrace new challenges as they are presented
Preferred
Prior Florida first party claims litigation experience and advanced skills in coverage investigation, litigation, and negotiation preferred
