Graphic Communications Instructor (Full-Time, Tenure-Track) Fresno City College

SCCCD International Education is seeking a Graphic Communications Instructor for Fresno City College. The successful candidate will provide instruction in Graphic Communications, ensuring an equitable and inclusive learning environment for a diverse student population.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Teaching a full schedule of developmental and transfer level Graphic Communications courses as assigned
Lecture and laboratory instruction in professional video and graphic communications at any vocational level taught at the community college
Conducting classes, lab maintenance and operation, equipment inventory, class preparation, office hours, student evaluation and advisement, professional advisory and campus committee work, curriculum and program development, and student activities
Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed
Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position and currency in teaching video production and graphic design
Participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning
Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, on-line or off-campus, and large group instruction classes as needed, may include off-campus instruction at local high schools for dual enrollment
Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122

Required

Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom
Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or
Any associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience; or
A valid California Community College Credential; or
The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency)

Preferred

Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility
Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes
Willingness to examine and remediate one's instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
Related work and professional experience
Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities
Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students
Relatable professional experience, and demonstrated proficiency in video production, graphic design, and web design
Demonstrated use of Macintosh and Windows operating systems
Proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Animate, Blender, Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, VSC, and other appropriate software
Willingness to develop relationships with local schools and maintain currency in the field of video production and graphic design
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff (oral and written) and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration
Ability to develop curriculum in concert with industry focusing on student learning outcomes appropriate to entry level employment
Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals
