Director of New Business Development

The Business Development Director is responsible for leading business development efforts, establishing new customer relationships, and generating revenue growth while coordinating internal resources to support the sales process.

Responsibilities

Develop, identify, and qualify new business opportunities through strategic prospecting and planning
Ensure the prospect is financially solvent and will be a long-term viable customer based on credit performance, working to hold to our approved credit terms
Follow up on lead generation in a timely manner with weekly face to face sales calls
Coordinate development of client solutions with Commercial and Operations leaders
Develop, write, and present the value proposition for Cowan services to potential new business customers
Prepare and lead contract negotiations for new business
Coordinate with the business implementation team for implementation of the client solution
Validate the deal, ensuring that all details of the accessorial, and required executional requirements are within pricing standards and can be executed appropriately
Manage the ongoing interactions of the business to ensure realization of solutions as presented and won with client to include receivables, monitoring performance during start-up period
Ensure timely and accurate account management with our Customer Service team

Required

Bachelor's degree
5 years of truckload sales experience
Excellent customer service, problem solving, and decision making skills
Ability to develop a working knowledge of all terminal operation aspects
Ability to work routinely on-site at a Cowan facility
Ability to travel – 10%-20% required
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer keyboard, and speak on the telephone. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

Preferred

TMS experience desired. TMW preferred
